Overcoming Health & Fitness Challenges in Middle Age

Health and fitness challenges can happen at any age but maintaining a healthy lifestyle is something that should be reassessed in various stages in one's life. One of the biggest challenges in middle age adults is finding the time and budgeting the right amount of time required to do exercise and buy the right food.

Three important factors in maintaining health in middle age include:

  • Muscle Strength - Weight training and Pilates
  • Cardiovascular Fitness - Biking, Running, Swimming, etc.
  • Flexibility - Pilates and Yoga

To achieve your best fitness it is important to dedicate time in these areas of fitness. Once a habit has been formed it is not as difficult to maintain.

Nutrition is just as important as exercise. Nutrition needs to be a lifestyle choice so finding a healthy eating pattern that works for you is of most importance. When making changes to your diet you do need to set a menu and try to maintain as close as you can to your preferred meal choices. In terms of your diet, you do need to stick with vegetables and fruit along with lean proteins. Avoid sugar and consume alcohol in moderation only.
